Covid-19: FC Barcelona players agree to reduce their salaries by "over 70%"

FC Barcelona (LaLiga Santander) first team players have agreed, during the period of health crisis caused by Covid-19, to a reduction of their salaries by "over 70% of that originally agreed with the club," announced the Catalan club on 30/03/2020.

"This contribution by the team, together with the contribution that the club itself shall make, will guarantee 100% of the salaries of all non-sporting staff at the club, which will be submitted for ERTE (temporary redundancy) this week," added FC Barcelona, whose board of directors also announced that it had reached an agreement to reduce the salaries of "the members of all of the professional sports teams and most of the basketball team."

The wage bill for FC Barcelona's sports sector, all sections combined, amounts to €507m for the 2019-20 season, according to the provisional budget presented by the club at the last annual general socios meeting on 06/10/2019 (see below).
