Covid-19/Germany: Bundesliga and 2.Bundesliga clubs suspend matches "until at least 30/04/2020"

"At the ordinary assembly of the Deutsche Fußball Liga today, Tuesday (31/03/2020), the Bundesliga and 2.Bundesliga clubs unanimously resolved to suspend match operations in until at least 30/04/2020 in light of the Coronavirus (Covid-19) and its consequences," said the DFL, whose assembly was convened via a video conference.

Additionally, the German body announced that it would be holding an extraordinary assembly on 17/04/2020 and presented a series of "potential scenarios and possible courses of action for the coming weeks and months" including:

• "A package of measures for licensing
• Establishment of a sports medicine/special match operations task force
• Location-specific production concepts for matches without spectators (see below)."

The DFL executive committee had previously recommended "a further suspension of match operations in the Bundesliga and 2.Bundesliga until at least 30/04/2020," on 24/03/2020. The Coronavirus (Covid-19) has already affected more than 71,000 people in Germany and claimed 775 deaths as of 01/04/2020.
