Covid-19/LFP TV rights: beIN Sports won't pay (€42m) by April deadline neither will Canal+ (€110m)

"Our group, not spared by the serious consequences of the health crisis that all economic operators are facing...and after careful consideration, mainly taking into account the total lack of real visibility on the actual resumption of the matches of the current season...has taken the decision to suspend the next payments provided for in our agreement and this, until the Ligue 1 Conforama and Domino's Ligue 2 championships can resume according to a schedule that allows their normal broadcast to our subscribers,' said Yousef Al-Obaidly, CEO of beIN Media Group and president of beIN Sports France, in a letter to the LFP on 01/04/2020.

beIN Sports will therefore not pay by the deadline of 05/04/2020 (€42m, of which €15m corresponds to matches already broadcast according to L'Equipe) and neither will Canal+ (€110m, of which €43m corresponds to matches already played), which had also informed the LFP of this decision by letter on 29/03/2020, while the Ligue 1 Conforama and Domino's Ligue 2 have been suspended "until further notice" since 13/03/2020.
