Covid-19/Ligue 1: Bistro Régent (restaurants) suspends its partnership with FC Girondins de Bordeaux

The Bistro Régent restaurant chain, main partner of FC Girondins de Bordeaux (Ligue 1 Conforama), has suspended its partnership since 23/03/2020, according to French media reports on 04/04/2020.

"I can't pay for a show that isn't taking place. There is no match, no representation of the brand at the national level. We don't know how long the confinement will last or when the championship will resume, if at all. The contract is suspended until further notice. We'll see when the time comes," said Marc Vanhove, president of Bistro Régent, to the regional French daily newspaper Sud Ouest on 04/04/2020.

"I also have a business. And I don't have a single euro coming in today. At the moment, it's costing me €1.4m in deadweight loss. We'll see if there will be compensation to set things right, depending on when the restart (of the league) is set. It's still too early to talk about it," said the restaurant chain's president to the French sports daily L'Équipe on 04/04/2020.
