Baseball: Los Angeles Dodgers (MLB) opt for paperless season tickets

The Los Angeles Dodgers, an MLB (Major League Baseball) franchise, are using paperless ticketing platform for 2014 season tickets, the franchise indicated on 04/04/2014. (The franchise played its opening match of the season against the San Francisco Giants (4-8).) The Dodgers use the TDC ProVenue Ticketing platform, which is exclusively digital. It was launched in partnership with Tickets.com, a ticketing website.

Fans can access their subscription via the Dodgers website or through the club's official smartphone app. The subscriber gets a bar code which is used for entry into the stadium. They may also give it to another fan or put it on sale via the platform.

"They still will sell paper tickets on a single-game basis - but 95% of such tickets already are sold online, using bar codes," said David Siegel, vice president of ticket sales. The Los Angeles Dodgers announced that they sold a record number of season ticket passes (32,000, out of a capacity of 56,000 seats) on 30/01/2014.
