Covid-19/England: Premier League clubs to receive advanced payments to alleviate revenue problems

Premier League clubs will receive partial advanced payments relating to the "merit payments" (based on their positioning in the league table) that they would normally receive, as well as from "facility fees", which are generated each time a match of the club in question is broadcast live on television, according to multiple British media reports on 09/04/2020, which reported that the decision was taken due to the current Coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic, during a Premier League shareholders' meeting on 03/04/2020.

The advanced payments are thought to be in addition to funds that are given to Premier League clubs at the start of a new season. Part of this money will be paid in the summer in order to alleviate the lack of revenue currently being generated by the clubs. The exact amount that will be attributed to each club has not yet been decided.

"The Premier League will not resume at the beginning of May (as previously envisaged, see below) - the 2019-20 season will only return when it is safe and appropriate to do so," said the English first division after its shareholders…
