Covid-19/Cycling: start of the 2020 Tour de France in Nice shifted to 29/08, end on 20/09/2020

"Following the declarations of the President of the Republic Emmanuel Macron (on 13/04/2020), indicating in particular that there could be no mass gathering events in France before mid-July 2020 in order to effectively fight against the spread of the Covid-19 epidemic, the organizers of the Tour de France, in agreement with the International Cycling Union (UCI), have decided to postpone the Tour de France to the dates of Saturday 29/08 to Sunday 20/09/2020," announced Amaury Sport Organization (ASO), the organizing company of the cycling event, on 15/04/2020.

"Initially scheduled from 27/06 to 19/07/2020, the Tour de France will take place on the planned route (see below), without changes, from Nice to Paris," added the ASO.

The UCI had previously announced the suspension of cycling events until 01/07 and until 01/08/2020 for the races on the UCI WorldTour calendar: "The 2020 Aigle-Martigny Road World Championships (SUI) will be held from 20 to 27/09/2020.
