Covid-19/FIFA: 50 football stars applaud medical staff and volunteers, "humanity's heroes"

"To show appreciation for the efforts made and risks braved by healthcare workers and other professionals who are giving their all to ensure society continues to function in the face of the Coronavirus, football stars both past and present (list below) have come together to pay tribute to humanity's heroes," announced FIFA on 18/04/2020 (see video below).

"As footballers, we are used to receiving applause, but this time, we have the opportunity to show our appreciation for the many people who are risking their lives to protect ours. You are humanity's heroes and we want to show that all of football supports you and everything that you do to defend all of us," said David Beckham, former England international and co-owner of Inter Miami CF (MLS).

"Broadcast on several of FIFA's digital platforms, the video campaign will be regularly updated in the coming days with players from around the world," said the International Federation, while the Coronavirus (Covid- 19) pandemic has claimed the lives of more than 165,000 deaths worldwide as of 20/04/2020.
