Liverpool FC (Premier League) announced plans to renovate Anfield on 23/04/2014. The work has been estimated at €186m according to British media.

The project's first step is to increase capacity of the venue to 54,000 seats, compared to 45,500 in 2014. Main Stand, the oldest stand at Anfield, will be rebuilt and enlarged from a capacity of 8,500 to nearly 21,000, said the club. This stand, which has the main hospitality areas and the club shop, will include a third floor after the renovation.

The second phase will involve the Anfield Road End stand, which will gain 4,800 seats, bringing Anfield to a total capacity of 58,800.

The club will hold a public consultation with local residents, fans and local businesses. The club plans to apply for a building permit in the summer of 2014 and hopes to begin work in the first half of 2015, for delivery in 2018. The Main Stand could be completed for the start of the 2016-17 season.

Liverpool top the Premier League with three days until the end of the season (80 points after 35 matchdays, 25 wins, 5 draws and 5 losses). They are 5 points ahead…
