Bundesliga: DFL reaches a compromise with media partners for TV rights payments

"The Deutsche Fußball Liga (DFL) has concluded agreements with nearly all national media partners (Sky Deutschland, DAZN, ARD and ZDF) with regard to the payments to be expected. This enables the DFL to provide liquidity to all Bundesliga and 2.Bundesliga clubs, gradually and depending on season developments, until the planned season end on 30/06/2020," announced the German body on 23/04/2020.

"If the season cannot start again or is interrupted, there are certain mechanisms that will lead to the reimbursement of the payments. This could once more lead to economic difficulties," continued the body, which had reached a compromise with the pay-TV operator Sky Deutschland, the main broadcaster of the Bundesliga and 2.Bundesliga (in its entirety) in Germany, for the payment of the fourth and final instalment of TV rights worth €225m (around €900m in total for the 2019-20 season), according to information on the website of the German daily Bild on 16/04/2020.
