Premier League: Gary Hoffman appointed chairman effective 01/06/2020

"The Premier League is delighted to confirm Gary Hoffman as its new Chair," announced the English League on 24/04/2020. Unanimously elected by the 20 shareholder clubs who met via videoconference, the current chairman of the British bank Monzo will officially succeed interim chair, Claudia Arney, on 01/06/2020.

"Gary is currently the Chairman of Monzo Bank Limited, Hastings Group Holdings plc (insurance company) and Coventry Building Society. He will leave Hastings Group before joining the Premier League," said the body.

"Previously, he was chairman of the Football Foundation (created in 2000 by the Premier League, the The Football Association and the Ministry of Sports), chairman of Visa Europe (banking), a vice-chairman of Coventry City FC (Sky Bet League One) and was appointed to lead Northern Rock (bank) through its government bailout. He began his career at Barclays (bank), where he rose to executive positions including group vice-chairman and CEO of Barclaycard," said the Premier League.
