Covid-19/Netherlands: the 2019-20 season is definitely over, no champion and no relegations

"The committee in charge of professional football, after consulting the clubs, the players and the coaches, and with the approval of the supervisory board, has decided to definitively end the 2019-20 season and the distribution of European places according to the Eredivisie's current classification, which is in line with UEFA directives, and it has been decided that there will be no promotions or relegations between Eredivisie and Eerste divisie (the Dutch second division)," announced the Dutch Football Federation on 24/04/2020.

This announcement follows the announcement, on 21/04/2020, of Mark Rutte, the Dutch Prime Minister, who announced the extension of the ban in the Netherlands of many events such as festivals or sports gatherings, until '01/09/2020. Eight Eredivisie matchdays (out of 34) and two postponed matches remained to be played in 2019-20, with the championship having been suspended at the end of the Matchday 26 (from 06 to 08/03/2020). There were nine rounds left plus the Eerste division play-offs (20 teams).
