Ligue 1/Ligue 2 TV rights: Canal+ ends its contract with the LFP for the 2019-20 season

The pay-TV group Canal+ has sent a letter to the LFP to formally end its broadcasting contract for the Ligue 1 Conforama and Domino's Ligue 2 for the 2019-20 season, according to information reported by the French media L'Equipe on 30/04/2020.

Canal+, which will broadcast two Ligue 1 games per matchday for the 2020-24 cycle, indicated in its letter the broadcaster is "impatient for the next season to resume and want it to start as soon as possible," according to L'Equipe, who report that the pay-TV channel wanted to cut short any interest in the potential end-of-season project in the form of play-offs in August 2020 proposed by Jean-Michel Aulas, president of Olympique Lyonnais.

The French LFP later definitively ended the 2019-20 Ligue 1 and Ligue 2 seasons and declared champions, European qualifications, and promotions and relegations via a points-per-game-played index on 30?04/2020.
