World Rugby: Bill Beaumont re-elected chairman for 4 years, Bernard Laporte elected vice-chairman

Sir Bill Beaumont (ENG) has been re-elected for a four-year term as the chairman of World Rugby by a first-round majority of 28 votes to 23 versus Agustín Pichot (ARG) in a poll managed by the audit firm PwC on 02/05/2020. As the sole candidate, Bernard Laporte, president of the French Rugby Federation (FFR), was elected vice-chairman of World Rugby.

A new executive committee (see composition below) was also established with seven new members appointed to join the chairman (Bill Beaumont), the vice-chairman (Bernard Laporte), the chief executive (Brett Gosper) and the two independent members, Angela Ruggiero and Lord Mervyn Davies.

"The results will officially be confirmed at World Rugby's annual meeting of Council on 12/05/2020 after which the new leadership's four-year mandate will begin," said World Rugby.
