Covid-19/TV rights: LFP to receive a State-guaranteed loan of €224.5m

"Meeting on 04/05/2020, the general assembly of the LFP adopted a resolution allowing the LFP to take out a State-guaranteed loan (PGE) with its banking institution. Thanks to this loan, the LFP will be able to pay Ligue 1 and Ligue 2 clubs all the sums due to be collected in the form of audiovisual rights for the 2019-20 season," announced the LFP on 05/04/2020 following the end of the 2019-20 Ligue 1 Conforama and Domino's Ligue 2 seasons approved by the Ligue's board of directors on 30/04/2020.

The amount of this loan would be €224.5m (25% of the League's last turnover) according to the French sports daily L'Équipe. "These sums cover the last two instalments of the 2019-20 TV rights, initially scheduled for 05/04 and 05/06/2020 respectively, and will thus help to support the cash flow of Ligue 1 and Ligue 2 clubs," added the LFP.

In addition to the €224.5m loan, the €47.6m paid by Canal+ and beIN Sports following the agreements reached for the payment of matches broadcast on 24/04/2020, will be added.
