Bundesliga: green light from German authorities for a resumption behind closed doors on 16/05/2020

"The Federal Chancellor (Angela Merkel) and the heads of government of the federal states consider the continuation of play in the Bundesliga and 2.Bundesliga to be justifiable for the 36 clubs eligible to start there at their expense from the second half of May. The safety precautions developed by the DFL (matches behind closed doors) must be taken into account," announced the German Chancellery following a conference call with regional leaders on 06/05/2020.

"The DFL will determine the specific match dates. The start of match operations must be preceded by a quarantine measure, possibly in the form of a training camp, as provided for in the concept under review," added the Chancellery.

The executive committee of the German Professional League announced a resumption on Saturday 16/05/2020. A general assembly of the League is scheduled for Thursday 07/05/2020 to establish the match schedule.
