Covid-19/England: no sports, including games behind closed doors, until at least 01/06/2020

Professional sports, including football matches played behind closed doors, will not be permitted in England until "no earlier than Monday 01/06/2020," according to "Phase Two" of the UK Government's Covid-19 recovery strategy (available to download) entitled "Our Plan to Rebuild" published on 11/05/2020.

"It is likely that reopening indoor public spaces and leisure facilities (such as gyms and cinemas), premises whose core purpose is social interaction (such as nightclubs), venues that attract large crowds (like sports stadia), and personal care establishments where close contact is inherent may only be fully possible significantly later depending on the reduction in numbers of infections," states the document. In the UK 223,060 people have been infected with Covid-19, which has claimed the lives of 32,065 people as of 11/05/2020. 

"The content and timing of the second stage of adjustments will depend on the most up-to-date assessment of the risk posed by the virus," announced the UK Government, which added that the recovery date "will be delayed if conditions are not met" and any…
