Belgium: City Football Group acquires Lommel SK club (Proximus League, second division)

City Football Group (CFG) has acquired the Belgian club Lommel SK (Proximus League), according to the holding company which invests in football assets (professional clubs, infrastructure, innovation) on 11/05/2020.

Lommel SK is the ninth football club in which City Football Group has invested after Manchester City FC (Premier League), New York City FC (MLS), Melbourne City FC (Hyundai A-League), Sichuan Jiuniu FC (China League Two, third division) and Mumbai City FC (Indian Super League), as the majority shareholder, and Yokohama F. Marinos (J.League), Club Atletico Torque (URU, Primera Division) and Girona FC (LaLiga SmartBank), as minority shareholders.

"The investment further grows CFG's global presence and focus on developing clubs, academies and players. As part of CFG's network of clubs, Lommel will contribute to and benefit from the sharing of knowledge and experience across the Group," said the holding company, which stated that the "completion of the agreement follows the renewal of club's professional footballing licence."
