Covid-19/Premier League: "We are working with stakeholders to complete the season" (R. Masters)

"We are working flat out with clubs and stakeholders - Government, our broadcast partners, The FA, the EFL, PFA and the LMA - to create a responsible, safe and deliverable model to complete the season," said Richard Masters, chief executive of the Premier League, who held a shareholders meeting with the league's 20 clubs, after the UK government announced that professional sports, including football matches played behind closed doors, would not be permitted in England until "no earlier than Monday 01/06/2020," in a document entitled "Our Plan to Rebuild - UK Government's Covid-19 recovery strategy" (available to download) published on 11/05/2020.

"We welcome these first steps and are ready to play our part. Of course, safety comes first. We must listen to government, the authorities and the medical experts and continue to follow their advice. That is exactly what we are doing. We are getting ourselves in the best position to resume the season, but only when the conditions are right," said Richard Masters.
