2019-20 Serie A TIM TV rights: broadcasters have not paid the final instalment of €233m

The broadcasters of the Serie A TIM (Sky Italia, DAZN domestic rights holders and IMG, international rights) for the 2018-2021 cycle have not paid the sixth (and final) instalment for the 2019-20 TV rights (€233m), due on 01/05/2020, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport on 10/05/2020, while a Lega Serie A assembly is due to be held on 13/05/2020.

Sky Italia had previously sent a letter requesting a rebate and a delay for the final payment (€162m for domestic rights, including €130m for Sky) initially scheduled on 01/05/2020.

On 21/04/2020 the Serie A TIM clubs mandated the Lega Serie A to discuss maintaining the payment conditions provided for in the contracts with the broadcasters (Sky Italia and DAZN), although no decision has yet been taken (as of 12/05/2020) by the Italian Government regarding a resumption of the competition.

Sky and DAZN had paid the previous instalment on 01/03/2020 before the competition was suspended. 256 of the 380 matches of the 2019-20 season have already been played, representing 67.4% of the total, while Sky and DAZN have already paid 83.3% of the €973m…
