China: LaLiga creates a 15-year joint commercial venture with Mediapro and Super Sports Media

LaLiga, the Chinese-Spanish audiovisual group Mediapro and the Chinese company Super Sports Media are creating a joint venture "The Spanish Football Commercial & Marketing Company (SFCM)" in China, "for an initial period of 15 years on a renewable basis", which will oversee the operation of commercial assets and the development of new business opportunities in the country, announced the Spanish league on 14/05/2020.

Mediapro markets the international media rights of the LaLiga Santander (until 2023-24) while Super Sports Media, a subsidiary of the Chinese-based multinational company Wuhan DDMC, holds the rights to broadcast the Spanish championship in China (until 2024-25).

"The new company will begin to operate immediately across the territories of mainland China, Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan. It will work in parallel with LaLiga's China offices and thus provide a great boost in the Spanish competition strategy in the region.
