Premier League: clubs vote unanimously to resume collective training in small groups

The resumption of collective training in small groups from Tuesday afternoon 19/05/2020 was voted unanimously by the 20 shareholder clubs of the Premier League, the latter announced on 18/05/2020. This is "the first step towards restarting the Premier League, when safe to do so."

"Step One of the Return to Training Protocol enables squads to train while maintaining social distancing. Contact training is not yet permitted. This first stage has been agreed in consultation with players, managers, Premier League club doctors, independent experts and the Government," added the English top division.

The Premier League is currently working on a "Restart Project" which initially aimed at a return to competition on 12/06/2020 behind closed doors (92 matches remain to be played). "I had very productive discussions with The Football Association, the English Football League (EFL) and the Premier League on 14/05/2020.
