Bundesliga (Matchday 26): 6.2 million viewers on Sky Deutschland, record due to free broadcasting

6.2 million viewers, this is the cumulative TV audience for eight of the nine games for Matchday 26 of the 2019-20 Bundesliga (played behind closed doors from 16 to 18/05/2020) on Sky Deutschland. This is a record for the pay and free-TV group, as the Bundesliga resumed after two months of interruption linked to the Covid-19 pandemic.

This record is due to the exceptional broadcasting of the multiplex on Saturday at 15:30 CET on the sports information channel Sky Sport News, which drew an average of 2.449 million viewers. The cumulative audience on the Sky Sport pay channels was 3.79 million viewers. Which means the multiplex alone was exactly the average number of total TV viewers per matchday recorded by Sky Deutschland since the start of the 2019-20 season.

1.227 million viewers watched the Saturday 15:30 pay-TV meetings, including 527,000 for the multiplex. This represents a share of 43% for the multiplex against 56% usually, which seems to indicate that a slight part of the paid viewership has transferred to the free-TV multiplex.
