Germany: Amazon co-broadcast the Bundesliga match on Monday 18/05/2020 and negotiates for others

Amazon co-broadcast, on its Prime Video platform, the SV Werder Bremen - Bayer 04 Leverkusen game (1-4), counting for Matchday 26 of the 2019-20 Bundesliga, on Monday 18/05/2020 (kick-off at 20:30 CET). The American e-commerce group is in negotiations with the DFL to broadcast other games of this package until end of the 2019-20 season and also for the 2020-21 season, as it the OTT platform DAZN which co-broadcast the 18/05/2020 match in Germany (see below).

This is the first time that Prime Video has broadcast a football match in Germany, after having broadcast two matchdays (20 games) of the 2019-20 Premier League in the United Kingdom in December 2019. The broadcasting agreement between Amazon and the DFL was announced a few hours before the start of the Monday night match. The platform encountered several technical problems during the broadcast (absence of sound, discrepancy between commentary and images).
