Ligue 1 Conforama: letter on 14/05/2020 from Aleksander Ceferin (UEFA) to Jean-Michel Aulas (OL)

Was there a 03/08/2020 deadline to end the 2019-20 French Ligue 1 Conforama championship? "These dates were recommended and tentative, not official," said Aleksander Ceferin, UEFA president, in the letter to Jean-Michel Aulas, chairman of Olympique Lyonnais, on 14/05/2020, which News Tank Football has obtained.

Why is this decision so important? Because of a statement by Roxana Maracineanu, the Franch Minister of Sports, on the TV channel of L'Équipe on 05/05/2020, justifying the announcement by Édouard Philippe, the French Prime Minister, on 28/04/2020, of the final judgment to end professional sports competitions, including football, in France: "This is the proposal I had on my desk: a (French football) season which had to end on 03/08/2020 because of the dates imposed by UEFA."

Two days after the declaration Edouard Philippe to end the French sports seasons, the LFP took note of the government decision by announcing the end of the 2019-20 seasons of Ligue 1 and Ligue 2, and by awarding the titles of champions to Paris Saint-Germain and FC Lorient respectively.
