Media: Kevin Mayer (USA), creator of Disney+, appointed CEO of Douyin (TikTok) from 01/06/2020

The American Kevin Mayer, 58 years old, has been appointed CEO of Douyin (TikTok in the west) and COO of ByteDance, indicated the parent company of the Chinese social network on 18/05/2020. His appointment will be effective on 01/06/2020.

"He will be charged with driving the global development of ByteDance, as well as overseeing corporate functions including corporate development, sales, marketing, public affairs, security, moderation, and legal. In his role as COO, Kevin will also lead music, gaming, Helo, emerging businesses," said ByteDance.

Kevin Mayer joins ByteDance after 15 years at The Walt Disney Company, where he occupied, since May 2018, the role of president in charge of BtoC and international activities. "As a key part of his role there, he oversaw the development and successful rollout of Disney+, the company's flagship streaming service.
