Covid-19/Basketball: Euroleague cancels its European cups for 2019-20, no champion designated

Euroleague Basketball, the organizing body of the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague (nominally, top intercontinental European competition) and of the 7Days EuroCup (second level), announced the cancellation of all its 2019-20 competitions, both for senior competitions and youth levels (Euroleague Basketball Adidas Next Generation Tournament and EuroLeague Academy), on 25/05/2020.

The EuroLeague, which had suspended its competitions on 12/03/2020, is therefore making its definitive arrangements in the face of the Covid-19 pandemic. "In keeping with our continued values of sports integrity and fairness, the executive board decided not to recognize any team as the champion for the 2019-20 EuroLeague, nor the EuroCup. All current EuroLeague (18 teams) and eight EuroCup clubs (out of 24 teams in the competition) have confirmed places for 2020-21 season," said the body.
