UK: Amazon to broadcast its four 2019-20 Premier League end-of-season matches free-to-air

Amazon will broadcast four 2019-20 Premier League end-of-season matches (played behind closed doors) free of charge in the UK via the Prime Video platform, according to the US e-commerce group on 03/06/2020.

As a result, 33 of the 92 matches that remain to be played in order to complete the 2019-20 Premier League season (which will resume on Wednesday 17/06/2020 behind closed doors) will be broadcast live free of charge in the United Kingdom by the English Premier League rights holders over the 2019-2022 cycle:

• The BBC, which holds the rights to highlights of the matches, will broadcast four of them. This is the first time that the British public broadcaster will broadcast Premier League matches live.
• The television operator Sky will broadcast 64 matches, 25 of which will be via its free channel Pick.
• The telecommunications operator BT will broadcast 20 matches via its BT Sport pay-TV channels.
• Amazon will offer 4 matches for free via the Prime Video platform after broadcasting two full matchdays (20 games) including Boxing Day fixtures in December 2019.
