beIN Sports France: a departure plan "with a view to making limited organisational changes"

The pay-TV group beIN Sports France has announced a departure plan to its employees on 02/06/2020, as revealed by the French sports daily L'Équipe the same day. The plan concerns 12 permanent positions within the editorial staff (five commentators, five reporters, an editor and a presenter) as well as eight fixed-term contracts associated with Ligue 1, according to L'Équipe.

"While the sports television market in France has been in a state of upheaval in recent years, with increased competition, an explosion in the value of television rights, a significant drop in operators' investments in pay-TV distribution, and escalating piracy, beIN Sports France, like many sports broadcasters, is facing major economic tensions," said the pay-TV group to News Tank Football on 03/06/2020.

"Consequently, beIN Sports France has initiated an information-consultation process with its staff representative bodies with a view to making limited organisational changes to meet these challenges.
