CONMEBOL: 6 CONCACAF teams will participate in Copa America 2016 in United States

A special edition of the Copa America will be held in the United States, from 03 to 26/06/2016, according to CONMEBOL (South American Football Confederation) and CONCACAF (Confederation of Football in North America, Central and Caribbean) in a statement on 01/05/2014.

This special edition will celebrate the centenary of the Copa America and will bring together the 10 national teams of CONMEBOL -- Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay and Venezuela -- and six national teams from CONCACAF, including the United States, which is the host country, and Mexico.

"We are all part of the American continent. We are proud to play a leading role in the celebration of the centennial of a tournament born to unite all America. Year after year the Cup has gained prestige, which has allowed the opening of doors to the football of an entire continent," said Eugenio Figueredo, president of CONMEBOL, on 01/05/2014.
