New Zealand: Super Rugby, the first professional rugby competition with supporters on 13/06/2020

The Investec Super Rugby Aotearoa will be "will be the first professional rugby competition in the world to have fans return en-masse in the Covid-19 era when the competition kicks off," announced New Zealand Rugby on 08/06/2020.

There will be no restrictions on the number of spectators for the start of the competition, i.e. for the Highlanders - Chiefs match at Forsyth Barr Stadium in Dunedin (NZL) on Saturday 13/06 and the Blues - Hurricanes game at Eden Park in Auckland (NZL) on 14/06/2020. The competition, launched on 07/05/2020, involving all five New Zealand Investec Super Rugby franchises (Blues, Chiefs, Hurricanes, Crusaders and Highlanders) and broadcast on the pay-TV channel Sky Sport, was initially scheduled to be played behind closed doors at Alert Level Two.

The government confirmed that New Zealand would be put on Alert Level 1 on 08/06/2020 at midnight, "lifting all restrictions on mass gatherings including at stadiums," explained New Zealand Rugby explained.
