The US multinational company Apple (IT, electronic products) has recruited the American James DeLorenzo, head of sports at the US e-commerce company Amazon Video, according to specialised media, on 03/06/2020.

James DeLorenzo has been head of sports at Amazon Video since March 2016 and led Amazon's acquisition of the streaming rights to Thursday night NFL games (rights held by Amazon since 2017 and extended to 2022 on 29/04/2020).

Apple launched its Apple TV+ streaming service in more than 100 countries on 01/11/2019. The service, which offers films and series and no sports programmes for the moment, had 10 million customers in February 2020 according to the American financial media Bloomberg.

Amazon is the most established FAANG in the sports rights market with rights to the NFL in the United States, the Premier League in the United Kingdom, the Champions League and Bundesliga in Germany and the French Open in France (see details below).
