Italy: "The 2019-20 season will end on the basis of sporting merit" (FIGC)

The 2019-20 season will end on the basis of sporting merit. A fixed ranking with the use of corrective criteria in case of a new suspension of the Italian championship which is to resume on 20/06/2020 or the organisation of playoffs and playouts, are the principles proposed by Gabriele Gravina, president of the Italian Federation, which were adopted by a large majority (18 votes in favour, 3 against) by the FIGC Federal Council on 08/06/2020.

"We only had one requirement, to finish the championships (Serie A TIM, Serie BKT and Serie C) on the pitch. (In the event of a further suspension) we have a playoff and playout format (with a number of teams to be determined), as desired by UEFA, before possibly resorting to an algorithm (which would determine which European teams and clubs would be relegated, but no league title would then be awarded).
