Germany: Stefan Kiefer to step down as chairman of the DFL Foundation on 31/08/2020

"Stefan Kiefer is leaving the DFL Foundation at his own request after six years as chairman of the board. At the age of 54, he will not extend his contract, which expires on 31/12/2020, and will leave on 31/08/2020," announced the German Professional Football League on 04/06/2020.

"The current timing of this decision is also right, as we at the DFL Foundation have developed, completed and implemented many projects on a solid basis. We have worked together outstandingly well," said Stefan Kiefer.

Stefan Kiefer has been Chairman of the board of directors at the DFL Foundation since November 2014. Previously, he was CEO in charge of church and sport at the Evangelical Church in Germany (EKD), as well as part-time head of the volunteer organisation at Hannover 96 (2.Bundesliga).

"The DFL Foundation works with young people in its action areas 'Integration and participation' and 'Growing up healthy and active'. In addition, it supports talents in over 50 different sports, helping to make elite German sport competitive at the highest level," states the DFL Foundation.
