"The JIRS (Interregional Specialised Jurisdiction) of Rennes (FRA) handed down a judgment on Monday 08/06/2020 declaring five individuals guilty of having, in particular, illegally reproduced, communicated and made available to the public audiovisual sports programmes, to the detriment of beIN Sports France, RMC Sport and Canal+. The defendants were prosecuted for having created, maintained and operated a 'galaxy' of several dozen websites (including the main site, 'beinsports-streaming.com') illegally streaming sports content between 2014 and 2018," said beIN Sports France, on 10/06/2020.

"The court sentenced the defendants to sentences of up to several months' imprisonment in addition to heavy fines. Several items seized in the course of the investigation, considered as proceeds of the illegal activity, were also confiscated. A subsequent hearing will rule in the autumn on the damages likely to be awarded to the civil parties beIN Sports France, RMC Sport and Canal+, who estimate the loss suffered in this case at several million euros," explained the pay-TV group.
