LaLiga: "No damages for broadcasters until we finish the competion" (Javier Tebas)

"What broadcasters are asking at the moment are the damages that have been suffered because we've had a few months without activity. If we have to analyse any damages we will do it, but we can't do it until we finish the competition's matchday," stated Javier Tebas, president of LaLiga, on 11/06/2020, a few hours before the resumption of the 2019-20 LaLiga Santander season with the Sevilla FC - Real Betis Balompié derby (2-0, Matchday 28).

The broadcasting rights, in Spain, to LaLiga Santander, for the 2019-2022 cycle, are held by the Spanish telecommunications operator Telefonica (9 live matches out of 10) and by the Spanish audiovisual group Mediapro (one live match for free-to-air) for an estimated amount of €1.15bn per season. Mediapro also markets the international rights of LaLiga for which there are around 70 agreements are concluded worldwide.
