Premier League club revenues exceeded £5bn (£5.157bn/€5.752bn) for the first time in 2018-19, an average of £258m (€288m) per club, according to the 2020 edition of the 'Annual Review of Football Finance' produced by the Sports Business Group at Deloitte, the UK audit and consultancy firm, and published on 11/06/2020 (document available to download).

The 7% increase was mainly driven by the increase in TV rights related to UEFA competitions (+£205m/€229m), with four English clubs participating in the 2018-19 UEFA Champions League and Europa League finals, as well as commercial revenues (+£120m/€134m), notably from Liverpool FC and Tottenham Hotspur FC, the 2019 Champions League finalists.

"While much uncertainty remains, assuming a completed 2019-20 season, we estimate revenue may fall to £4.3bn (€4.8bn on 15/06/2020, 17% reduction from 2018-19), with over £500m now recognised in 2020-21 but almost £500m lost to the sport," added the Sports Business Group.

  • The "Annual Review of Football Finance 2020" is the 29th edition to be published by Deloitte.
