The Qatari pay-TV group beIN Media Group will lay off more than 100 people (presenters, journalists and technicians) in the Middle East and North Africa, according to information revealed by the American financial media company Bloomberg on 15/06/2020.

"In the context of the enormous and most financially-crippling disruption to the sports and entertainment industry in recent memory, broadcasters around the world are making incredibly difficult decisions in order to survive - and beIN is not immune. These forces have been compounded for beIN specifically due to rampant piracy across MENA. As a result, we have started a limited redundancy programme in relation to our MENA business - which will be as limited as possible, while securing our long-term future. It would not be appropriate to say any more at this stage as the consultation remains ongoing," said spokesperson for beIN Media Group to News Tank Football.

beIN Media Group had launched a plan for the departure of 300 employees based at its headquarters in Doha (Qatar) in June 2019, due to the beoutQ piracy.
