Schalke 04: Clemens Tönnies reelected president of supervisory board until 2016

Clemens Tönnies was unanimously re-elected president of the supervisory board of Schalke 04 (Bundesliga) by the supervisory board at the annual general meeting of the club at Veltins Arena (Gelsenkirchen) on 05/05/2014. He has held the post since 2001 and his new term will keep him there until 2016.

Aside from this election, the 7,077 Schalke 04 members present at the meeting voted for two members to the supervisory board; Armin Langhorst, former chief medical officer of Schalke 04 was re-elected for three years (2,582 votes) and Axel Hefer, administrative director of the city of Gelsenkirchen will hold his post until 2017 (2,211 votes).

Members also designated as Heiner Tümmers as supporter representative and member of the supervisory board until 2017, instead of Rolf Rojek.

  • Hans-Joachim Burdenski left the supervisory board and became honorary president of Schalke 04.
  • The general assembly adopted three amendments to the constitution of the club concerning social responsibility, the committee of honor and the conduct of general assemblies.
