"The Roland-Garros tournament, if the sanitary conditions linked to the Covid-19 crisis allow it, will take place over three weeks, from 21/09 to 11/10/2020. The Parisian Grand Slam tournament thus benefits from an extra week, which will allow qualifying events to take place from 21/09/2020," announced the FFT on 17/06/2020.

The maintenance of the US Open (behind closed doors from 31/08 to 13/09/2020, see below) has forced the 2020 edition of Roland-Garros to be postponed by another week, from 27/09 to 11/10/2020, as reported by the French daily Le Parisien on 24/04/2020. The French tournament, initially scheduled from 24/05 to 07/06/2020 had already been postponed by the FFT (17/03/2020), due to the Covid-19 pandemic, to from 20/09 to 04/10/2020.

Roland-Garros 2020 will not be played "behind closed doors. There is not yet a final decision on the number of spectators, which will be defined in agreement with the public authorities. It is still premature to give even an estimate," said Bernard Giudicelli, president of the FFT, on 17/06/2020.
