2019-20 Serie A TIM: beIN Sports did not broadcast the restart in 35 countries

The Qatari pay-TV group beIN Sports did not broadcast the four matches for the restart of the 2019-20 Serie A TIM (postponed from Matchday 25 day due to the Covid-19 pandemic), in the 35 countries where it is the broadcaster of the Italian championship (see below), on 20 and 21/06/2020. The group had, however, announced that they would broadcast these matches a few hours before the competition resumed.

"No Serie A matches are being broadcast on beIN Sports' entire global network. It would not be appropriate to comment further, other than to say our legal and public position has been consistent and well-documented for three years," a beIN Sports spokesperson told several media outlets including News Tank Football on 21/06/2020.

"BeIN is actively reconsidering its entire commercial relationship with Serie A following the league's decision to go ahead with its Super Cup (Supercoppa Italiana) match next month in Saudi Arabia, the country responsible for the mass theft of the league's premium sports rights for over two years," said a spokesperson for the Qatari pay-TV group to the US…
