Financial fair play: Four sanctions for Paris SG, including payroll cap

Paris Saint Germain will receive four sanctions under financial fair play rules, L'Equipe newspaper reported on 06/05/2014. They are: a payroll cap, limits on transfers, reduction of the number of players in 2014-15 Champions League, and a withholding of winnings from the Europe Cup.

1. The Paris SG payroll, which in 2012-13 was €219.6m, including charges (and to which €10m must be added for the "75% tax" for the first six months of 2013), cannot increase further under penalty of additional sanctions.

2. UEFA is imposing a restriction on transfers, according to L'Equipe, which states that the Parisian club must sell before buying and can only purchase one single player for a maximum amount of €60m.

3. Paris SG can only sign up 21 players in the Champions League instead of the usual 25. And of these 21 players, as required by European competitions' regulations, eight should be trained locally (at least four club-trained and the others trained in France).

4. The Parisian club will suffer deductions on the amounts earned in the European Cup (€55.1m in 2013-14). L'Equipe said the…
