Bundesliga 2021-2025 TV rights: €1.1bn per season, Sky and DAZN share the pay-TV matches

The domestic broadcasting rights to the Bundesliga, the 2.Bundesliga and the German Super Cup for the 2021-2025 cycle have been allocated for a total amount of €1.1bn per season, announced the DFL on 22/06/2020. This amount is slightly down compared to the 2017-2021 cycle (€1.16bn per year), while the German Football League had hoped to reach €5bn (or €1.25bn per season) in this call for tenders, initially launched before the Covid-19 pandemic.

The pay-TV operator Sky Deutschland, the main broadcaster in Germany of the Bundesliga on the current cycle, acquires the rights to the Saturday matches including multiplexes (200 matches per season) as well as all of the matches of the 2.Bundesliga.

The OTT platform DAZN, another broadcaster of the German championship this season (see details below), and which also holds the majority of the rights in the Champions League in the 2021-2024 cycle in Germany (best game for Wednesday evening and all other matches), acquired the rights to the Bundesliga matches on Friday and Sunday (106 matches per season).
