FC Barcelona: sale of Barça Fan Tokens on Socios.com generates €1.3m "in less than 2 hours"

Socios.com, a blockchain cryptocurrency platform owned by the Maltese companies ChiliZ and Mediarex Sports & Entertainment, has activated its partnership with FC Barcelona (LaLiga Santander) to launch Barça's official Fan Token so that its fans can take part in surveys, announced the club on 22/06/2020.

The sale of 600,000 Barça Fan Tokens (€2/token) began on 22/06/2020 at 13:00 CET and "generated €1.3m in less than 2 hours after going on sale," according to Socios.com on 22/06/2020. "Demand for Barça Fan Tokens ($BAR) far exceeded the initial limited supply over 5x times and were sold in 106 different countries. $BAR will be available for purchase again from 13:00 CET onwards on Wednesday 24/06/2020, but with price determined by supply and demand," added the company, based in Il-Gżira (Malta).
