"The new stadium project is vital for the club and we can't afford to lose another three or four years. It would be beyond my power to postpone it any longer," said Laurent Nicollin, president of Montpellier Hérault Sport Club (Ligue 1 Uber Eats), at a press conference held at the club's headquarters on 22/06/2020, on the occasion of the resumption of professional squad training.

"We are very much invested in the fact that the election will take place (the 2^nd round of municipal elections will take place on 28/06/2020) so that we can meet the elected mayor and validate this project in Cambacérès (located near the new Montpellier SNCF railway station, to the east of the city), which is the only place where it is viable.
