The German brewer Veltins has extended its contract with Schalke 04 (Bundesliga) for stadium-naming rights until 2019, the club announced on 05/05/2014.

The agreement is valued at €5.5m per year. Gelsenkirchen stadium, opened in August 2001, has been called the Veltins Arena since 2005. Schalke 04 leaders were negotiating with several international companies before they chose to continue their partnership with the brewer. Veltins is also guaranteed to be the official supplier of the 69,000-seat stadium until 2023. That contract began in 1997. Both parties announced the intention to develop their digital presences.

"Marketing (sponsorship and merchandising) revenue for the club was €80m in 2012-13; it will increase for 2013-14," said Alexander Jobst, member of the board of directors in charge of marketing operations for the Ruhr club at its annual general assembly at Veltins Arena on 05/05/2014.

  • Clemens Tönnies was unanimously re-elected chairman of the supervisory board of Schalke 04 by the supervisory board.
    • In office since 2001, his term is extended until 2016.
