"This is a watershed moment in the growth and maturity of sport streaming services and the logical next step as we continue to invest in our most mature market (Germany) and the future of sport," said Simon Denyer, CEO of DAZN Group (OTT platform), regarding the allocation of the Bundesliga's domestic broadcasting rights for the 2021-2025 cycle, on 22/06/2020.

DAZN, which previously broadcast an average of just over one game per matchday during the 2019-20 Bundesliga season (see details below), will broadcast an average of just over three (out of nine) per matchday over the 2021-2025 cycle. "The agreement is the largest package of major domestic football rights ever awarded to a streaming service in Europe," said DAZN, which also holds the rights in Italy to three Serie A TIM games (out of 10) per matchday.

DAZN had also acquired the rights to broadcast the Champions League in Germany for the 2021-2024 season (best Wednesday night fixture and other matches) on 12/12/2019. DAZN, the self-proclaimed "new house of football" in this market, also holds the rights to LaLiga Santander…
