The North American audiovisual group Turner Sports, holder of broadcasting rights, in English in the United States, to the European cups of football for the 2018-2021 cycle, has terminated its contract with UEFA, according to information from the American media Sport Business Journal, published on 24/06/2020.

Turner pays around $60m (€53m) per year over this cycle, while the Spanish-language group Univision spends around $40m (€35m) per season over the same period for rights in Spanish.

UEFA will therefore have to find a new English-language broadcaster, which could be the audiovisual group CBS, which acquired the rights to the European cups for the 2021-2024 cycle, on 09/11/2019. CBS and Univision will pay a total amount of between $140, and $150m over this future cycle, an increase of 40% to 50% compared to the current cycle.
