ExclusiveCovid-19: "€500m loss for French pro football was avoidable" (B. Caïazzo, Première Ligue)

"French professional football will end up losing at least €500m in the 2019-20 season, quite simply because our football has been at a standstill since 10/03/2020 and our league championships have not been able to resume (...) With the resumption of competitions in our neighbouring countries, we must now be aware of a cruel reality: this €500m loss was avoidable," said Bernard Caïazzo, president of Première Ligue, in an exclusive interview with News Tank Football on 28/06/2020.

"I don't agree with Jean-Michel Aulas' stance, especially when he tries to make the LFP take responsibility for stopping competitions. All the League did was obey the government, like all those who had to close their restaurants, hotels or businesses overnight," added Bernard Caïazzo.

In addition to these observations, the Première Ligue president made the following numerous proposals for football:
• 10% of the salaries of professional footballers to go into a fund to help amateur football.
• A minimum of three hours a week spent by professional footballers in amateur clubs.
