England: The FA to cut 124 jobs due to Covid-19 and its "effect on finances" (M. Bullingham, CEO)

"Covid-19 has had a significant impact on The FA and we now have a greater understanding of the long-term and irreversible effect of the pandemic on our finances. Today we are proposing to make 124 positions redundant," said Mark Bullingham, chief executive of The Football Association, on 29/06/2020.

"The high level of uncertainty in our landscape means that we have had to plan for a whole range of potential scenarios. As previously communicated, we are currently planning for potential losses of approximately £300m (€327.36m on 29/06/2020). Because we halted recruitment the day we left the offices in March (working from home enforced due to Covid-19), we are able to take 42 vacant positions out of the structure, which means that we are proposing to remove 82 roles from the organisation," added the CEO of The FA, who was supported by Greg Clarke, chairman of The Football Association, who explained the proposals in a video published on YouTube (see below) the same day.
